Brandon’s entrepreneurial spirit started at an early age. He started many businesses in areas he saw need throughout his childhood. As a first-generation auto dealer, Brandon has worked his way through various roles within a dealership, beginning first as a car wash attendant at a local Volvo dealer early in his high school years. By the age of 17, he began selling cars and his passion for the industry exploded. After graduating from Southern Illinois University Brandon moved back to Wichita and opened Brandon Steven Motors in 1996, a small used car lot. He was and is driven to innovate the car-buying experience, believing that the experience should be a fun and enjoyable process.
In 2004, Brandon landed his first franchise: Subaru. Brandon hit the ground running, acquiring Suzuki in 2007 and becoming the top Suzuki dealer in the nation within two short years. He maintained that through 2011. Brandon’s vision of expansion blossomed with the purchases of Ford of Augusta, Eddy’s Toyota, Eddy’s Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Eddy’s Chevrolet Cadillac, Eddy’s Volvo Cars of Wichita, as well as opening three Super Car Guys locations (quirky branded used-car lots). He expanded outside of the Wichita market with the purchase of Eddy’s Mazda of Lee’s Summit in Missouri in 2016.
Focusing on strategic expansion, Brandon sold Ford of Augusta, located just outside of Wichita, and brought Lincoln, Ford’s luxury line, into the Wichita group in 2017. Brandon never settles for good enough, each of his dealerships grow each year, all award winners; most notably, winning the President’s Award from each of their respective manufacturers: the highest honor! Eddy’s Toyota has received every award offered by Toyota. In 2020, Brandon completed his largest acquisition to date, he acquired Honda of Downtown Los Angeles, valued at over $80 million. This was steadily followed with more strategic acquisitions in southern California, including Hyundai of Downtown LA, Harbor Chevrolet, Harbor Hyundai, Honda of Reseda, Jaguar Land Rover Ventura, and Hyundai Carson. In 2023, Brandon acquired two more dealerships in Wichita, KS, and renamed them Eddy's Infiniti and Eddy's Volkswagen.
Aside from the auto industry, Brandon values health, fitness and competitive drive. Fittingly, Brandon is a partner in Genesis Health Clubs with his brother, Rodney Steven II. Furthering their competitive drive, Brandon, Rodney, and their younger brother Johnny, purchased the Wichita Thunder, a professional hockey team in Wichita, KS. The team immediately posted a winning record and bid for the league championship their first year of ownership.
Brandon is also a very successful fundraiser and a generous philanthropist. Brandon received the prestigious National Man of the Year award from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society his first year running. When nominated for the award, Brandon knew he could make a difference and set his goals high. With the help of many generous contributors, Brandon reached his goal and broke the national record for a great and deserving cause.
His main platform of philanthropy is aiding underprivileged children, and with that GFFT was formed. GFFT is an acronym that stands for Genesis Foundation for Fitness & Tennis. This non-profit, 501c3 foundation, was formed by Brandon and Rodney in 2006, with the purpose to provide funds allowing all citizens, regardless of background and means, the opportunity to participate in recreational and/or competition fitness activities. GFFT provides funding and scholarships for individuals interested in tennis, both for recreation and competition as well as at-risk, disadvantaged and otherwise under-funded youth. Brandon strives to motivate those around him and challenges them to achieve more.
The pair have continued their expansion outside of the auto and health industries, including 6S Steakhouse, which opened in January 2018. Brandon saw a need for a fine-dining steakhouse on the west side of Wichita. The property was completely gutted and transformed into a sleek, modern establishment. Boasting dry-aged beef, a lakefront patio and an exquisite experience, 6S rapidly became Wichita’s #1 fine-dining establishment.
The brothers further expanded into new territory through a series of family entertainment venues, including trampoline parks and the brand new indoor water park concept, Blast Off Bay, which saw its first location open in Goddard, Kansas in winter 2023.
Brandon’s biggest accomplishment to date is his family. Brandon and his wife Karen have six children (Lauren, Lainie, Lexi, Landry, Brandon II and Leighton) and reside in Wichita.
